Pelican: A Bold Display Font for Creative Campaigns

When I was finalizing the visuals for a seasonal product launch, I needed a font that could grab attention quickly and communicate energy without overwhelming the audience. That’s when I turned to Pelican, a bold and modern display font with a cheerful and unique look. It immediately felt like the right choice for the campaign’s playful yet professional tone.

Pelican for Instagram Post Headers and Branding Consistency

Using Pelican in my Instagram post headers transformed the way the brand message landed. The font’s modern design and strong visual presence made each post stand out in a crowded feed. I used it for both promotional content and branded templates, ensuring consistency across all visual assets. Its unique style helped reinforce the brand’s identity while maintaining readability on mobile screens.

Pelican is particularly effective for short headlines and callouts. I found it worked well in combination with a clean sans serif font for body text, creating a balanced contrast that enhanced readability. For instance, in a recent product teaser campaign, I paired Pelican with a minimalist sans serif typeface, allowing the bold display font to take center stage while keeping the rest of the text approachable and easy to read.

Pelican for YouTube Thumbnails and Digital Ad Layouts

When designing YouTube thumbnails, I needed a font that would be legible at small sizes but still visually striking. Pelican met that requirement perfectly. Its clear letterforms and strong outlines made it readable even in compressed thumbnails. I tested several variations and found that the medium weight offered the best balance between impact and clarity.

In digital ad layouts, Pelican helped create a sense of urgency and excitement. I used it for headline text in banner ads and social media promotions, where its boldness translated well into fast-scrolling feeds. The font’s cheerful personality aligned well with the campaign’s tone, making it feel more engaging and less corporate than standard display fonts.

Pelican for Email Banners and Webinar Banners

Email banners and webinar banners are critical touchpoints in any marketing strategy, and Pelican performed exceptionally well in both. The font’s unique style added a creative edge to email subject lines and promotional headers, encouraging higher open rates and click-throughs. I also used it for webinar banners, where its bold appearance helped draw attention to the event title without overshadowing other essential details.

I noticed that Pelican works best for short, impactful text. In longer copy or dense information scenarios, the font can become overwhelming. However, for key messages, headlines, and promotional tags, it’s an excellent choice. I recommend using it sparingly and pairing it with complementary typography to maintain visual harmony.

Pelican for Social Media Graphics and Content Series

When building a content series for a new online course launch, I wanted a font that could reflect the creativity and energy of the material. Pelican fit the bill perfectly. Its unique look gave the series a cohesive and memorable aesthetic, while its versatility allowed me to use it across different platforms and formats.

I used Pelican for social media graphics, including Pinterest pins and Facebook posts, where its boldness and clarity made it stand out. For Instagram stories and Reels covers, I adjusted the size and weight to ensure optimal visibility on smaller screens. The font’s PUA encoding also provided access to additional glyphs and ligatures, which added flexibility in creative design work.

Pelican for Branded Templates and Commercial Font Licensing

As a designer working on multiple client campaigns, I often rely on fonts that can be used across various projects. Pelican is a great example of a premium font that offers both style and practicality. Before using it in client work, I always checked the included styles, alternates, and file formats to ensure compatibility with different design tools and platforms.

The font’s commercial licensing makes it suitable for use in ads, templates, merchandise, and digital products. I’ve used it in branded template packs, where its versatility allowed for consistent branding across multiple campaigns. However, I always remind clients to review the license terms before using the font in print or digital publications.

Pelican is not the best choice for long-form content or formal corporate communication due to its playful and stylized nature. But for creative campaigns, social media visuals, and brand-driven content, it’s a powerful tool that can elevate the overall design and messaging.
